Scholarships & Applications

Below is a listing of the scholarships currently available to students.  Many scholarships are limited to residents of specific counties or graduates of certain high schools.  If you have any questions about eligibility or application guidelines, contact Claire Bowen, Donor Services Associate at cbowen@cfsga.net

Alan George Memorial YMCA Scholarship

For a graduating high school senior who has obtained at least a 3.0 GPA and one that is affiliated with the Thomasville YMCA in some capacity such as a member or employee or whose parents are affiliated with the Thomasville YMCA. Further consideration will be given based on financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular school activities or employment, community service, and leadership qualities.

Attorneys’ Title Guaranty Scholarship

For students at a Georgia University including Mercer University, Emory University, University of Georgia School of Law and Georgia State University who demonstrate high academic achievement in all real-estate-related courses and show commitment to the highest standards in real estate practice. 

This scholarship is managed internally by each institution

Bacon County High School Class Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Bacon County High School with a minimum high school GPA of 3.00. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of Academics, Leadership Qualities, Extracurricular School Activities, Community Service, and Financial Need.

Benjamin E. Gordon Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Valdosta High School with a minimum high school GPA of 2.70. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of Academics, Financial Need, Leadership Qualities, Extracurricular Activities and Community Service.

Bill Reynolds Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior from a high school located in Decatur County, Georgia. Other considerations include the applicant’s leadership history, earned honors, and academic achievements.

C. M. and Bernice C. Stripling Scholarship

This scholarship shall benefit the following organizations and their students: Camilla Schools, Inc., Pelham City Board of Education, Mitchell County 4-H Club, and Mitchell County Board of Education.

This scholarship is administered internally by each organization

 

C. M. and Bernice C. Stripling UGA Forestry Scholarship

For a student who graduated or will graduate from an accredited Georgia high school; has enrolled or intends to enroll in the University of Georgia’s School of Forest Resources pre-professional program of study and if enrolled, has three quarters or more or two semesters or more remaining before becoming eligible to enter the School of Forest Resources as a professional student; has been in the top academic half of his or her high school graduating class and if one or more quarters or semesters of college have been completed, must have maintained a grade point average of at least a 3.0. 

This scholarship is administered internally by the UGA School of Forestry

Cairo High School Band Spirit Scholarship & Joe A. David III Music Scholarship

For graduating seniors of Cairo High School who have been outstanding instrumental students and members of the Cairo High School Band. The award is based on financial need, scholastic achievement, band achievement, extracurricular school and community activities, work ethic, and leadership qualities. This fund also assists students who are unable to afford the cost of obtaining their primary musical instruments to play in the band, assists in purchasing music for the high school band program, and assists in purchasing non-musical equipment for the band program.

Chelsea Rae Langford Memorial Scholarship

Annually, at least one scholarship will be given in loving memory and honor of Chelsea Rae Langford, to an Art student at Andrew College in Cuthbert, Ga. The scholarship is partially dependent upon the student’s love of art and compassion for people and is not necessarily dependent upon academic achievements or financial need. 

This scholarship is handled internally by Andrew College

Cleve Bostick Memorial Scholarship (Public Schools)

For graduating seniors of Baconton Community Charter School, Mitchell County High School and Pelham High School  who have attained at least a 3.0 GPA. The award is based on leadership abilities, community service and financial need.

Cleve Bostick Memorial Scholarship (Westwood)

For a graduating senior of Westwood School in Camilla, Georgia who has attained at least a 3.0 GPA. The award is based on leadership abilities, community service and financial need.

Coy Williams Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, Georgia, that has enrolled in or plans to enroll in a post-secondary college or university and has at least a 3.4 GPA in High School. Further consideration shall be given to those with community service, extra-curricular school activities, financial need, academic achievement and personal integrity and character.

Dr. Charlie Watt Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Brookwood School, located in Thomasville, Ga., who also is member of the football program during their graduating year. Further consideration will be given to those who have achieved a high academic grade point average, embody personal character, and who have also exhibited outstanding leadership among his/her classmates.

Doug Henderson III Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior from a high school located in Lowndes County, Georgia. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of Academics, Leadership Qualities, Extracurricular School Activities, Community Service and Financial Need.

Georgia Dental Hygienists’ Association Scholarship

The Georgia Dental Hygienists’ Association provides scholarship opportunities for dental hygiene students and Registered Dental Hygienists that seek financial assistance and who reside in Georgia.

Application Deadline: NOVEMBER 1, 2019

Griffin Family Scholarship

For a graduating senior who is an active member of the Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church, with membership established at least two (2) years prior to be eligible for the scholarship, who is enrolled or intends to enroll in a post secondary educational institution and has maintained at least a 3.0 GPA.

Homer E. Breckenridge Jr. Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, Georgia. The award is based on community service, extracurricular school activities, financial need, academic achievement and personal integrity and character.

Hosea Hall & Lilly Eason Vann Scholarship

For a graduating senior from a high school located in Thomas County, Georgia with a minimum GPA of 3.00.  The award is based on Academics, Financial Need, Leadership Qualities, Extracurricular Activities and Community Service.

Application Deadline: APRIL 1, 2020

J. B. Jenkins Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Seminole County High School located in Donalsonville, Georgia, who has enrolled or intends to enroll in a post secondary educational institution, which includes but is not limited to colleges, universities, technical schools or vocational schools. Other considerations include the applicant’s extracurricular activities, earned honors, academic achievements, community service and financial need. Preference will be given to any student seeking a degree in education.

Jack Gibbs Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Tift County High School. Applicants must be a member of the Tift County High School basketball team and plan to attend a post secondary college or university in the United States.

James D. Eunice Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors with a minimum high school GPA of 2.5. Must reside in the United States and be enrolled or intend to be enrolled in a post secondary college, technical college or University in the United States. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academics, leadership qualities, extracurricular school activities, character, community service and personal integrity, and financial need.

Joanne Pierce Drake Music Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, Georgia, who has participated in at least one of the music programs at Seminole County High School for no less than one full year and has enrolled in or plans to enroll in a post-secondary college or university and has at least a 2.5 GPA in High School. Further consideration shall be given to those with community service, extracurricular school activities, financial need, academic achievement and personal integrity and character.

John B. and Elizabeth V. Wight Annual Scholarship

For graduating seniors of Cairo High School with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.  Annually, up to two $8,000 scholarships will be awarded.  Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academics, leadership qualities, extracurricular school activities, character, community service, personal integrity, financial need and prior work experience.

John Bulloch Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Thomas County Central High School, located in Thomasville, Georgia, who has enrolled in or plans to enroll in a post-secondary college or university in the State of Georgia, has attained at least a 2.5 GPA in High School and intends to major in Agricultural Studies. The award is based on the previous criteria, community service, extracurricular school activities, financial need, academic achievement, personal integrity and character.

John M. Simmons Educational Scholarship

For graduating seniors of Bainbridge High School (Bainbridge, GA), Grace Christian Academy (Bainbridge, GA), Maclay School (Tallahassee, FL), Chiles High School (Tallahassee, FL), Robert F. Munroe High School (Quincy, FL) and Brookwood School (Thomasville, GA) who have attained at least a 2.75 GPA. Other considerations include academics, leadership qualities, extracurricular school activities, community service and financial need.

Julien B. Roddenbery Scholarship

For the Valedictorian and the Salutatorian of Cairo High School located in Cairo, Georgia.

This scholarship is managed internally by Cairo High School 

Kevin Walden Memorial Scholarship

For graduating seniors of Cairo High School who have been involved in the golf program. The award is based on financial need, scholastic achievement, extracurricular school and community activities, work ethic, and leadership qualities.

Marie Wertz Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Thomasville High School with a minimum high school GPA of 3.00. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academics, leadership qualities, extracurricular school activities, community service and financial need.

Mary Newberry Kirkland Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, Georgia, who is graduating in the top academic half of his or her high school graduating class. Further considerations will be given based on community service, extracurricular school activities, financial need, academic achievement and personal integrity and character.

Mitchell EMC – Operation Round Up Scholarship

For a graduating high school senior or a student currently enrolled in or attending a post-secondary college or university in the United States, and that has attained at least a 2.5 GPA. The student, parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of the student must have their primary residence or a place of business in the Mitchell EMC service area.  Preference will be given to Mitchell EMC consumers. However, further consideration will be given based on financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular school activities or employment, community service, and leadership qualities.  Recipients are limited to two scholarships in a lifetime.

Molly Elkins Joiner Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Cairo High School in Cairo, Georgia. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academics, leadership qualities, extracurricular school activities, character, community service, personal integrity, and financial need. Preference will be given to any student seeking to major in education.

Nicole Taylor Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, Georgia, who is graduating in the top academic half of his or her high school graduating class. Further consideration shall be given to those with community service, extracurricular school activities, financial need, academic achievement and personal integrity and character.

Quitman United Methodist Church – Williams S. McMichael Scholarship

For a student enrolled or intends to enroll in a Georgia Methodist Seminary or Asbury Theological Seminary. Other considerations include the applicant’s academic achievements, extracurricular activities, leadership abilities, community service and financial need. The award is based on the previous criteria, community service, extracurricular school activities, financial need, academic achievement, personal integrity and character.

Robert P. “Bobby” Singletary Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville, GA who has attained a minimum GPA of 3.00. The award is based on academics, leadership qualities, extracurricular activities, community service, personal integrity, and financial need.

Robert Warde Chambers Scholarship

For graduating seniors of Brooks County High School and continuing education scholarships to teachers employed a minimum of one year with the Brooks County School System. The graduating senior must have obtained at least 2.50 GPA in high school. Other considerations include the student’s extracurricular activities, earned honors, community service, recommendations from teachers, and financial need. To be eligible for the teacher scholarship, the recipient must be employed in the Brooks County School System at least one full year. Other considerations include extracurricular involvement with the students, satisfactory classroom performance rating as evidenced by student progress, and financial need.

Rocky Ivey Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Thomasville High School in Thomasville, Georgia, who is graduating in the top academic half of his or her high school graduating class. Further consideration is given for community service, extracurricular school activities, financial need, academic achievement and personal integrity and character.

Savannah Singletary Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Brookwood School. Considerations for the scholarship award shall include participation in the Basketball Program of Brookwood, personal leadership, academic record, and moral character.

Senior Chief David “Blake” McLendon Scholarship

For graduating seniors of Thomas County Central High School, located in Thomasville, Georgia, who has graduated or will graduate, has enrolled in or plans to enroll in a post secondary college or university in the United States, and has attained at least a 2.5 GPA in High School. The award is based on the previous criteria, community service, extracurricular school activities, financial need, academic achievement, personal integrity and character.

Terri Matthews Nursing Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Thomasville High School, Thomas County Central High School, or Brookwood School or is currently enrolled at Southern Regional Technical College or Thomas University. The student intends on majoring in Nursing or is already enrolled in a Nursing program.  The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of Academics, Leadership Qualities, Extracurricular School Activities, Community Service, and Financial Need.

Thomas B. McDowell Memorial Scholarship

For a graduate of an Early County High School in Early County, Georgia, and must have been a resident of Early County, Georgia. Applicants must have completed at least 2 years in a post-secondary college or university in the United States and have attained at least a 2.5 GPA in the post-secondary college or university. Further consideration shall be given for academic achievement, financial need, extracurricular school activities or employment, community service, and leadership qualities.

Thomasville Antiques Show Foundation Scholarship

For graduating seniors of Thomasville High School, Thomasville Scholars Academy, Thomas County Central High School, Bishop Hall Charter School and Brookwood School, located in Thomasville, Georgia; have enrolled or been accepted to a post-secondary educational institution which includes but is not limited to colleges, universities, technical schools; and be graduating in the top academic half of his or her high school graduating class.

Thomasville Rotary Club Scholarship

For graduating seniors of Thomasville High School, Thomasville Scholars Academy, Thomas County Central High School, Bishop Hall Charter School and Brookwood School, located in Thomasville, Georgia, who is graduating in the top academic half of his or her high school graduating class. Further consideration of award will be given based on community service, extracurricular school activities, financial need, academic achievement and personal integrity and character.

Tucker Baptist Association Scholarship

For a graduate who is also a member of a church which is part of the Tucker Baptist AssociationThe applicant must be enrolled in a seminary, Bible college, or other educational institution where they are training for a Christian gospel ministry vocation. This may include but is not limited to, training as a pastoral minister, youth minister, music minister, educational minister, and foreign or home missionary. The training may be a degree program such as a Masters of Divinity, etc., or the training may be a seminar or educational course related to ministry development.

WH and Mary P. Muggridge Memorial Scholarhip

For graduating seniors of Cairo High School and a non-agricultural participants in the CTAE Program at Cairo High School. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need, academics, earned honors, and extracurricular activities. The scholarship committee will also strongly consider the applicants’ attitude, work ethic, and leadership qualities that have been demonstrated during high school and participation in the CTAE Program.

Wyatt Hutchins Alexander Family Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Early County High School in Blakely, Georgia, who has attained at least a 3.5 GPA in high school. The award is based on the previous criteria and the following considerations: financial need, personal integrity and character, extracurricular school activities or employment, community service, and academic achievement.

Zack Alday Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior of Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, Georgia, who is in the top half of their graduating class.
