Scholarships

The Community Foundation of South Georgia manages scholarship funds established by individuals, families, businesses and organizations who desire to assist local students in continuing their education.

For Students

The Community Foundation of South Georgia currently administers over 40 scholarship funds established by generous donors whose wish is to invest in the future of the next generation.  These funds help deserving students pursue their dreams of higher education while easing their financial burden.  Each scholarship was designed with its own specific criteria and purpose.  Award amounts and deadlines vary for each fund.

Creating Your Own Scholarship Fund

Our Scholarship Funds create educational opportunities for students in South Georgia and beyond.  If you are interested in supporting education by starting your own scholarship fund, we are here to help!

Whether it’s memorializing a loved one, leaving a legacy or a passion for education, our scholarship funds can help make a lasting impact in the life of a student pursing a degree in higher education. Scholarship Funds may be established with a gift of $10,000 or more and donors are able to establish their own guidelines to determine who is eligible to apply.

Rely on the Community Foundation to manage all of the details of your Scholarship Fund.  From accepting applications and committee reviews to handling awards and making payments to colleges or institutions, we make sure the process is smooth from start to finish.

The James Eunice Legacy Scholarship Fund

Since 2011, the James D. Eunice Legacy Scholarship Fund has awarded over $367,000 in scholarships to over 640 students across South Georgia and North Florida.  Through this fund, John and Tammy Eunice are able to celebrate how their son James Eunice lived his life and how his legacy continues to impact those who hear his story.  To find out more about this scholarship and others offered by the Community Foundation of South Georgia, visit Our Scholarships page.

“All I want to do is make a difference in the lives of other people,” our youngest son, James, would often tell this to his Valdosta High School classmates.  It’s now part of his legacy.  Thanks to the support of the Community Foundation of South Georgia, we were able to establish the James Eunice Legacy Fund shortly after losing him on January 15, 2011.  The Foundation guided us through those difficult early months and provided the advice and framework needed to enable us to continue James’ legacy…”  –John & Tammy Eunice
