Grants Awarded from COVID-19 Relief Fund
In response to the global pandemic now affecting South Georgians, the Community Foundation awarded grants from the COVID-19 Relief Fund to 64 organizations across our 35 county service area to date, totaling $499,000. Grants were directed to organizations working on the frontlines of the relief effort in our communities who are serving those most at-risk including seniors, children, and low-income or food-insecure individuals with access to basic needs.
Over $600,000 has been raised so far from CFSGA’s donor advised funds, local foundations and foundations and corporations outside of South Georgia and the state. The Community Foundation will continue its fundraising efforts to support this fund. Since April, four rounds of grants have been distributed. CFSGA’s grants committee will continue to work to understand the needs of our communities and make grants accordingly as we move forward. In order to deploy resources quickly, we are not accepting applications for funding. Instead, we are working with community leaders and partners who work closely with those who are most vulnerable to better understand the organizations meeting the most critical needs of South Georgians during this time.
